Established in 1997, Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisations (BAVO) serves as the County Voluntary Council for Bridgend County Borough, providing FREE support and assistance to community and voluntary groups, not-for-profits, and social enterprises in the area. This includes acting as a voice to ensure they are represented across a wide range of issues locally, regionally & nationally.

Access to community mental health services is available via two routes:

2. Early Intervention and Prevention Hub or Assisting Recovery in the Community (ARC)

What is the pathway?


The Bridgend Mental Health Pathway acts as a point of access to identify and reach out to early intervention, preventative support groups within Bridgend.

The Adult Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) provide a range of services for adults (18 – 65 years) who have moderate to severe, unstable mental health problems.

The teams offers support to people with a range of mental health difficulties. Examples of these include psychosis, bi-polar, personality disorder, severe depression and anxiety.


Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) work in partnership with Health and Social Services along with other voluntary sector providers.

Bridgend Substance Use Services

Barod’s substance use service in Bridgend provides support to adults and young people. The service also offers support to concerned others – friends and family of substance users, whether the individual is accessing treatment themselves or not.

The service works closely with the Community Drug and Alcohol Team (CDAT) and other services in the area, to ensure that the individual can easily access support services that meet their needs.

The single point of contact for referrals into substance use services in Bridgend is DASPA.

Individuals and professionals can refer into DAPSA using the telephone number 0300 333 0000 or you can complete a referral online on the DASPA website.

Assisting Recovery in the Community (ARC)


Assisting Recovery in the Community (ARC) continues to offer advice and information sessions for people struggling with their emotional wellbeing.

They provides practical advice, guidance and structured support for individuals with mental health issues.

Although ARC are unable to see people face to face at this time, you can still call or email for support. A member of the team will discuss your needs with you and provide you with useful information.

ARC can also provide follow up calls, guided self-help and help with understanding issues such as anxiety, stress and panic.

Telephone guidance and email advice is available between 9.00am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday as an alternative to the drop-in clinics that are not currently taking place at ARC.
