Peer support occurs when people provide knowledge, experience, emotional, social or practical help to each other.


Peer support is a form of assistance where individuals with similar lived experiences come together to provide mutual help and emotional support.
The Wellbeing Retreat offers out-of-hours support in Bridgend for people facing emotional distress or social crises. It helps those struggling with loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, or low wellbeing. To access the service, call NHS 111 and press 2, or contact partner organisations for referral.


Mental Health Matters Wales delivers an out-of-hours Wellbeing Retreat in Bridgend, supporting people experiencing low-level mental health issues or social crisis. Working with NHS, local authorities and partners, it provides emotional support, reduces distress, and helps individuals manage challenges, improve wellbeing, and prevent escalation to crisis outside normal working hours.
Our wellbeing group does more than provide emotional support; it creates a space for open conversations about mental health, builds trust within teams, and offers practical solutions to everyday challenges


Coping strategies and skills Support groups often serve as a platform for sharing coping skills and strategies that have proven effective for managing mental health
